Completed Project List

Because of the very generous donation to P.A.P.A.S. from Lu Ohlander, some major remodeling and stage improvements were completed in 2009. Following is a summary list of the projects completed so far:

MAIN THEATRE LOBBY:
- the lobby doors have been re-glued, sanded, and refinished
- new automatic door closers were added to the lobby doors
- the School District paid for plaster patching and paint touchups in the lobby area
- the lobby show photos were framed and brought up to date

LAUNDRY ROOM BEHIND TICKET BOOTH:
- the laundry room door was widened
- electricity and plumbing were added for the costume laundry
- new ceiling light and wiring was installed
- two front-loading washers and two condensation dryers were purchased

RECORDING AREA BESIDE LAUNDRY ROOM:
- an abandoned exit at the bottom of the stairwell was dry-walled and insulated
- new electrical outlets were installed
- remote-controlled cameras were installed in both theatres for backstage monitors and for recording productions

CONTROL BOOTH:
- a new digital sound mixing board was installed
- a new control board for the theatre lighting was installed
- the previous light board was recycled for use in the Reinholz Theatre
- an all new dimming system was installed in the basement for both theatres
- controls for the new LCD projector were installed in the booth

ON STAGE - MAIN THEATRE:
- the standard size door to the hallway was replaced with taller and wider custom double doors for ease in stage set up and for the ability to move the grand piano onto the stage from the music room across the hall
- a new exit and emergency light was added above the new hallway door
- a new 30-line rigging counterweight system was installed (with additional financial support from School District)
- additional stage weights were purchased
- the old electrical wall outlets were replaced; numerous new outlets were installed
- a new LCD projector was installed under the speaker cluster for movies and Power Point presentations
- networked lighting controls were installed
- seven large LCD monitors were added for the backstage cast and crew (on stage; orchestra pit; small theatre stage; classroom)
- a paging system was installed for the Reinholz lobby, the dressing rooms, backstage, and the classroom
- a block and tackle lift system was installed for moving scenery to the loft storage area
- a new wireless intercom headset system was purchased for the backstage crew
- additional wireless microphones were purchased for actors

MAIN THEATRE AUDIENCE AREA:
- new brighter and more energy-efficient audience house lights and controls were installed
- on the side walls: new lighting positions were added close to the stage
- new lighting fixtures were added for the new lighting trees
- the old side wall lighting positions were repaired and new additional circuitry was added
- the lower side walls were painted to hide plaster cracks
- the sound system in the theatre was upgraded with additional speakers and replacement amplifiers

THEATRE CLASSROOM:
- new make-up mirrors and lights were installed with additional electrical circuits
- new carpeting was installed
- heating and air conditioning was installed - the noisy ineffective heater was replaced
- two new sewing machines and two new sergers were purchased for costume construction

SCENE SHOP/WORKROOM:
- additional electrical outlets were installed
- most of the ceiling work lights were replaced
- a Genie lift was purchased to allow for the safe hanging and focusing of lights on stage and and on the side walls of theatre
- new cord ends were installed on most of the extension cords
- replacement batteries and a battery charger were purchased for cordless drills

ELIZABETH REINHOLZ THEATRE (Little Theatre):
- new brighter and more energy efficient audience house lights and controls were installed
- additional fluorescent lights were installed over the seats for classroom and meeting use
- dimmer per circuit wiring and new dimmers were installed for the stage lighting
- a camera was installed for the closed circuit TV monitor with recording capability
- more work lighting was installed on the stage
